Bra Series: How To Properly Care For Your Bra

Every bra has unique fabrics, trims, and care requirements.  I suggest that my clients soak their bras in warm water for at least 1 hour, rinse in cold water, and then roll in a towel to remove excess water – never twist.  Read labels for washing and temperature instructions.   For those who must use the machines. Most bras can be washed in a lingerie bag on your machine’s gentlest cycle.  Never wash with other clothes.  Close the hooks and eyes on the bra before putting it in the bag, zip shut, and then place in washing machine .  Never put a bra in the dryer—the heat ruins the stretch. To dry, simply hang it on a hanger or lay flat to dry.

After your bras dry, you should stack them in rows so the cups fit into each other in your drawer.  You can also hang them on hangers in your closet. This is especially important for bras with a molded foam cup. Avoid folding bras in half with one cup inside the other, as this could alter their shape.
